ExerciseClasses

Cancer and exercise
Working in partnership with Woking Borough Council

The importance of physical activity for people living with and beyond cancer is very important at all stages of the cancer care pathway.

Exercising regularly reduces the risk of developing common side effects which can occur at any time such as weight gain, loss of muscle strength, fatigue and lymphoedema (a chronic condition that causes swelling when the lymphatic system is not able to drain fluid properly).

Keeping active has a potential role in reducing the risk of cancer recurrence, increases survival rates and improves psychological well-being.

The classes are suitable for all levels of fitness whether you are pre, currently having or post treatment, no matter how long ago.  All levels and abilities are catered for from complete beginner to enthusiast.

You will receive a free one to one consultation before attending the class.

I am happy to give advice on exercise, even if you feel the class would not work for you.

Cardiac rehabilitation and exercise

These exercise classes are run for people who have had a heart attack, suffer from angina, surgery, stent or another heart related problem.

Regular aerobic exercise increases functional capacity, can relieve symptoms and reduces the risk of developing other long term conditions including decreasing risk of another heart attack, improved cholesterol, reduced blood pressure and reduced anxiety/depression.
